Padmavat gives a beautiful description of the kingdom of Simhala-dweepa, the birth place of princess Padmini. Folk lore portrays Padmavati aka Padmini as a Sri Lankan princess who made Chittorgarh her permanent home after nuptials with Rana Ratan Singh. That’s the first fact to be noted about this erstwhile queen of striking beauty.
